The Adaptec FS4100 Fibre to SATA JBOD delivers high performance, scalability, and flexibility to the midrange storage market combining the performance and connectivity benefits of Fibre Channel with the cost advantages of SATA drives. This high density JBOD is designed for DAS or SAN configurations and is an ideal solution for applications that require a combination of affordability, bandwidth, greater fault tolerance, additional availability, and easy scalability.

Enhanced SATA Reliability and Performance
Key to the performance of the Adaptec FS4100 JBOD are the dual active, failover/failback intelligent controller modules, providing up to 350 MByte/sec. The controllers mask the SATA characteristics of the drives, presenting them to the host as Fibre Channel devices.
The Adaptec FS4100 maximizes SATA drive reliability and performance through enhanced thermal and rotational vibration characteristics. The system boasts no single point of failure with redundant, hot-swappable components. Adaptec dual channel multiplexer (DCM) technology allows dual controllers to access each SATA drive for non-disruptive availability.
Exceptional Scalability and Investment Protection
Each system supports up to 12 disk drives or 4.8 TByte (using 400 GByte drives) in a dense 2U form factor. This modular design has additional investment protection with a 3 Gbit ready midplane. As storage needs grow, additional systems can be easily added dynamically - up to a total of eight subsystems.
Each intelligent controller supports up to four Fibre Channel host connections for up to eight connections per system. The Adaptec FS4100 can also be deployed as an expansion system for the Adaptec FS4500 RAID.
